Smokey Bay and Ceduna

Tuesday 3rd March 2012:

We left Haslam and travelled a short distance to Smoky Bay where we had morning tea. Smoky Bay is a small coastal town attracting visitors for holidays, fishing and swimming. We travelled a further 40klms to Ceduna. The town of Ceduna, with a multicultural community of around 3,600 people, is located on the Far West Coast of South Australia, on the scenic shores of Murat Bay on the Great Australian Bight, approximately 800klms from Adelaide and 1900klms from Perth. We did a last check on everything......fuel, water, gas and groceries, as over the next 7 – 10 days we will be travelling across the Nullarbor on our adventure to WA. From the Tourist Information Centre, we purchased our golf cards to play golf on the Nullarbor Links – The world's longest Golf Course. The 18-hole par 72 golf course spans 1,365klms with one hole in each participating town or roadhouse along the Eyre Highway from Ceduna in SA to Kalgoorlie in WA or vice versa. You have your card stamped at every hole and receive a certificate upon completion. We travelled 36klms out of town to our first Nullarbor camp spot for the evening.

Over the next couple of weeks I will be on the Nullarbor with limited, if any, internet coverage so expect to be back in blogland in a few weeks time...............keep a lookout!
