Wednesday 4th April 2012:
Penong is 67klms and Nundroo 145klms west of Ceduna. Today we started our Nullarbor Links golf game. The Nullarbor Links Golf Course is the longest golf course in the world......some 1,365klms from Ceduna in South Australia to Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. You can do the course in any order you wish so long as at each hole you have your scorecard stamped and on completion of the course you take your completed and stamped card to either Kalgoorlie or Ceduna Visitors Information Centre to receive your Nullarbor Links Certificate. We started the course with the first hole in Penong and second hole in Nundroo. It's dry and very rough but none the less good fun and breaks the journey across The Nullarbor. You have millions of tiny and annoying spectators....flies! The lady who was so informative and helpful at the Tourist Info Centre in Ceduna said that the course has only be open for two years and in that time there has been a huge reduction in road accidents crossing the Nullarbor due to the breaks and rest people have.
We camped only 19klms west of Nundroo at the Kidnippy rest area.
