Jimberlana Hill and Norseman

Wednesday 11th April 2012:-

Travelled from 10 Mile rocks campsite, where we stayed last evening, to just 5 klms east of Norseman and climbed to the top of Jimberlana Hill, a rugged granite outcrop, to take in the spectacular views over surrounding scrub, the Dundas Hills and Lake Cowan, a huge salt water lake.

Onto Norseman and played our 12th ........ 'Ngadju' and 13th ........'Golden Horse' holes of golf on the Nullabor Links Golf Course. We took in the few sights of this small town, went to the local IGA store to stock up on groceries, but didn't buy too much as the fruit, vegies, meat and other items were extremely expensive. I guess when you are the only show in town you can charge what you like!

Before leaving Norseman we ventured up to Beacon Hill lookout to enjoy the vista of the surrounding countryside then travelled south 25klms to our camp spot for the evening at Dundas Rocks. Hugh rock formations are a feature of this hilly area where two prospectors found gold in 1892.

The access track through scrub leads to the short lived Dundas township which soon became a ghost town when more impressive finds of gold were discovered in Norseman.
