Cape York Wilderness Challenge Accommodated Safari

Friday 26th August to Thursday 1st September 2011: We joined a Widerness Challenge Safari and ventured to Australia's Top..........Cape York!
Flying from Cairns to Horn Island....then across to Thursday Island by ferry, where we enjoyed a guided bus trip of the island.....then by ferry across to mainland Australia, visiting Australia's northern most settlements, Bamaga, Seisia and then CAPE YORK (mainland Australia most northern point).
Travelling in an OKA 4WD with 11 other travellers we had a fun time crossing many rugged roads and rivers. Birdwatching, croc spotting great walks and swimming at Fruit Bat Falls.
Travelling along the famous Telegraph track to Weipa....a fascinating bauxite mining town! You haven't seen red till you visit Weipa - soil, dust, roads, buildings and the bauxite - ALL RED!
Continued onto Musgrave Station, Coen then travelled through the Lakefield National Park to Cooktown, then down the Bloomfield Track and through the Daintree National Park back to Cairns.
A great trip with many photos - (roughly 450), twenty seven I have included in this blog. Enjoy!
